Clematis vines grow on our old wire corn crib. They bloom early in the season. The cornfield on the other side of the wire corn crib is more than eight feet tall today, but when I took the photo, you couldn't see even seedlings. The clematis vines put on several beautiful shows and then they quit flowering. What is left of the blossom first forms into the spiralling button shown at the top of the photos, then the spiral begins to turn into a fuzz ball. The middle one is the transforming spiral. The end result are these hairy looking things which almost look like feathers up close. When you touch them, they fall off and blow away. Each phase of the clematis flower is beautiful!
